Coaching Development

Coaching Pathway

Grande Ronde Valley FC is committed to supporting and educating our coaches at every level. As a club, we support the USSF soccer licensing model.  Our coaches will begin their education within the USSF coaching licensing process, Introduction to Grassroots Coaching, and have the option to continue on the coaching license pathway.

Coaching Resources

In our approach to train our players, we use a combination of the following resources to develop our coaching curriculum:

Join GRVFC Coaching Team

OYSA Background Check (required)
If you have not been in the system previously, click on “Create a New  account.” Please do not create a new account if you think you have been  in the system previously – it messes them up. If you’ve had an  account/coaching license from Oregon Youth Soccer Association (OYSA)  before, you’re most likely, in the system. If this is the case, try to  do the “find username or password” link. If that doesn’t work, please,  do not sign up again, just email Desia at OYSA (desia@oregonyouthsoccer.org), who will check and connect you with your account.

SafeSport Certification (required)
All  athletes deserve to participate in sports free from bullying, hazing,  sexual misconduct or any form of emotional or physical abuse. Beginning  with the 2018-19 registration year, GRVT is adding SafeSport online training as a requirement for all coaches and staff members.  This course is offered to US Soccer members for FREE and takes  approximately 90 minutes to complete.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Create a SafeSport account
  • You will be prompted to add a membership (U.S. Soccer) via an access code (YC3E-6P5G-YYIL-CS2M).
  • Finish  the registration process, and take the online training, which consists  of three modules: 1) Mandatory Reporting: Understanding Your  Responsibilities; 2) Sexual Misconduct Awareness Education; and 3)  Emotional and Physical Misconduct. Completion will take approximately 90  minutes, but it does not need to be done at once. You may save your  progress and continue where you left off at a later time.
  • Once  all three modules are completed, you will be able to download a master  "SafeSport Trained" certificate from your dashboard. Save this  certificate.

Digital Coaching Center (DCC) (optional)
Create a coaching profile on the DCC. The DCC allows coaches to create a  personal profile, register for courses, communicate with technical  staff, take part in online courses, create session plans with an online  graphics tool, access an archive of U.S. Soccer training sessions and  much more.

Grassroots Coaching Introduction (optional)
FREE introductory module (20 minutes), which represents the first step  in the newly revised coaching license pathway, is now the general  starting point of the pathway and is the required prerequisite to  undergo any of U.S. Soccer’s Grassroots Licensing Courses.

United Soccer Coaches (USC) Membership (optional – highly recommend)
$95 per year membership fee. Receive all the benefits of membership including $1 million in general liability insurance,  access to a suite of insurance products at group rates, Soccer Journal  print magazine, opportunities to nominate players and coaches for  awards, member pricing on all products including Convention, and insider  involvement in member groups.

United Soccer Coaches Foundations of Coaching Course (optional)

A perfect introduction to coaching youth soccer for the first time, and  as a helpful refresher for those coaches coming back to the youth game.  Focusing on improving coaching instruction in order to progressively  improve player development, the Foundations of Coaching provides insight  into targeted training activities and age-appropriate instruction for  beginning to advanced players. The course is free to members or $25 for  non-members.
