TOPSoccer

Meeting the Needs of All Players

TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for  Soccer) is a community-based recreational program specifically designed  to help athletes with physical, cognitive and/or developmental  disabilities participate in soccer. The program, designed and  administered by US Youth Soccer,  provides meaningful learning, development and physical participation  opportunities to young athletes through the game of soccer.

The  emphasis of the program is on development, training and meaningful  participation rather than on competition enabling individuals to improve  their fitness and enhance their self-esteem.

TOPSoccer Volunteers

ALL children should have the opportunity to play soccer, regardless of their race, religion, sex, economic status or ability.

TOPSoccer  is entirely dependent upon the dedication provided by volunteers. Volunteering brings more awareness and understanding to the special  needs community. Community service hours can be counted towards  assisting the program whether that is as a "Buddy" or assisting with the  organization and promotion of the program. It all makes a difference!

TOPSoccer Coaches

Anyone can  be a TOPSoccer coach. You don't have to have soccer experience. We will  help bring you up to speed on modified rules of play and provide the  necessary training needed to help make a difference in the lives of  these athletes.

US Youth Soccer TOPSoccer Coaching Certification courses  are available and free to attend, but are not required.

TOPSoccer "Buddies"

Anyone  can be a TOPSoccer Buddy: family members, students, teachers or  friends. Whether you have played soccer all your life or getting  involved for the first time, TOPSoccer provides an opportunity to give  back to the community and increase the opportunities available to an  under-served part of our population.

TOPSoccer Buddies are  volunteers who assist and partner with 1 to 2 TOPSoccer players per each  training session. Buddies must be compassionate, kind, energetic and  exhibit a willingness to help!

Soccer experience is not necessary to be a  Buddy.

Volunteering as a Buddy is a perfect opportunity for  high school and/or college students interested in Special Education or  those in need of fulfilling service project assignments. We highly  recommend and encourage GRVFC U15+ players to volunteer as a TOPSoccer  Buddy.
